Protecting the Building Behind the Exterior
Siding and other exterior finishes provide the visible surface of a building, but the materials beneath them play an essential role in protecting the structure.
Water-resistive barriers help manage moisture that gets past the exterior cladding, directing water away from the underlying wall assembly. Proper installation requires attention to seams, overlaps, transitions, and openings where different building materials meet.
HarLand Windows and Doors provides water-resistive barrier installation services for custom homes, production communities, multifamily and commercial construction, and exterior renovations.
01
Housewrap Installation
Housewrap creates a protective layer between the exterior sheathing and finished siding. It helps prevent water that gets behind the cladding from reaching the underlying wall assembly.
HarLand Windows and Doors provides housewrap installation for new construction and renovation projects, with attention to material overlaps, seams, and transitions around windows and doors.
02
ZIP System Tape Application
ZIP System sheathing incorporates an integrated water-resistive barrier. The seams between panels must be sealed with compatible ZIP System tape according to the manufacturer's installation requirements.
HarLand Windows and Doors provides ZIP System tape application for sheathing installed by others. This includes taping panel seams and coordinating related flashing work where included in the project scope.
ZIP System sheathing installation is not included in this service. Our team performs the specified taping and flashing work after the sheathing has been installed.
03
Flashing at Windows & Doors
Window and door openings require particular attention because they interrupt the continuity of the exterior wall assembly.
Flashing helps manage water around these openings and directs it toward the exterior rather than allowing it to enter the wall.
HarLand Windows and Doors provides flashing installation at window and door openings. This work can be coordinated with window and door installation to address the connections between the openings and surrounding water-resistive barrier.
